Why the editor uses Safe Edit mode
Excel workbooks can contain much more than visible cell data. They may also carry styles, charts, drawings, pivot tables, data validation, comments, and other OOXML parts. The editor focuses on cell values and standard formulas instead of pretending to support every Excel feature.
For specialized cleanup tasks, Motricialy also has focused tools such as Remove Formulas from Excel and Remove Hyperlinks from Excel, which are better when you want one specific workbook change rather than open-ended editing.

Is the Online Excel Editor free?
Yes. The core editor is free to use and does not require a Motricialy account.
Can I open an existing Excel file?
Yes. The editor currently accepts standard .xlsx workbooks up to 20 MB.
Can I edit formulas?
Yes. Standard formulas can be edited. Advanced shared, array, or data-table formula groups may be blocked from export if an edit cannot be rewritten safely.
Will my Excel formatting be preserved?
Existing formatting is preserved when it is left untouched. Safe Edit mode does not currently provide formatting controls, which reduces the risk of rewriting workbook styles incorrectly.
Can I create a blank Excel spreadsheet?
Yes. Choose Start Blank Workbook on the editor page and download the result as an XLSX file when finished.
Does the editor support macros or .xlsm files?
No. Macro-enabled and legacy workbook formats are intentionally rejected. Use a standard .xlsx copy for this editor.
What if I only need to remove formulas or hyperlinks?
A focused tool is usually faster for one specific cleanup job. You can use Remove Formulas from Excel or Remove Hyperlinks from Excel instead of opening the full editor.
