Remove Hyperlinks from Word FAQ
Does removing a hyperlink delete the linked text?
No. The link wrapper or HYPERLINK field is removed while the displayed text is kept. The tool creates a new DOCX rather than overwriting your original.
Why not just use Ctrl + A and Ctrl + Shift + F9 in Word?
That Word shortcut can unlink fields generally, not only hyperlinks. This tool targets actual hyperlinks and HYPERLINK fields so unrelated PAGE, TOC and REF fields are not intentionally flattened.
Can it remove links from headers and footers?
Yes. The scanner checks DOCX Word parts such as the main document, headers, footers, footnotes, endnotes and comments when those parts contain hyperlinks.
Will the blue underline disappear too?
The link itself is removed. If the text uses Word's built-in Hyperlink character style, you can enable the optional style reset. Manually applied blue text or underlining is preserved because it may be intentional formatting.
Does Motricialy upload my Word document?
No. The DOCX package is parsed and rebuilt in the current browser tab. If your next cleanup task is document structure rather than links, the separate header and footer remover handles that independently.
